Can I make pastry with ground almonds instead of flour?

I would like to make a lemon meringue pie for a friend of mine but she has a gluten intolerance. I have just made a wonderful sponge cake using ground almonds instead of flour and wondered if you could make pastry with ground almonds. I have tried using rice flour to make pastry but it is very difficult to roll out as it breaks up easily. Any other suggestions on making pastry without using flour?
