Why is it that young people don't read as much these days?

Okay so i'm 16 and you will rarely find me without a book. I've read the complete works of jane austen, Bronte, thomas hardy and charles dickens, but also a lot more contemporary stuff its just that right now i'm really in to the classics. It makes me so sad that young people aren't reading as many books. It annoyed me so much when the last Harry Potter book came out and i asked my friend if they had read it yet and they just said "oh no i'll just watch the film when it comes out" am I just really sad for loving reading so much? anyone else feel the same as me?
