Is the novel 'Les Miserables' a moderately easy read?

I was thinking of reading it but I'm not advanced enough to read bigger classics such as 'The Scarlet Letter.' I am reading Jane Eyre at the moment and would like to know if Les Miserables is any easier or as easy as Jane Eyre or Jane Austen. Anyone read those classics? Please, don't answer this if youv'e never read Les Miserables.
